We're BaaaAAAAAAck!

HELLO EVERYONE!! (Do I hear an echo???) Phew...it sure feels good to be typing here again!  I am happy to announce I am back from my stint of new mommy induced hibernation!  So much to report...I'm not even sure where to begin...

Well, I'll start with baby Isla, who turns one month old tomorrow.  Basically, she is amazing.  Yes, I know - all parents say that - but I mean it, she really IS amazing (wink).  Scott and I have fallen into step as new parents effortlessly and that is due in no small part to the fact that Isla is a very "easy" baby.  She sleeps, eats and poops like a champ - and at night I'm getting four (sometimes five!) hour stretches of sleep which I am told is "extremely lucky".  She's a mild mannered, chilled-out, and thoughtful little sweet pea with about a million hilarious facial expressions and a cacophony of coos.  She is a champion cuddler and loves a LOT of movement (no big surprise considering momma ran 4-5 times a week up until week 38!) - we go running/walking at least three times a week and she loves watching the world whiz by!  I am happy to report she is already a dreamer like mommy and daddy and though she is not flashin' her pink gums yet in "real" life, she smiles and even LAUGHS each and every time she drifts off to sleep.  What she is dreaming about I have no idea, but she is certainly very happy in the land of Nod, that is for sure!  We could never have imagined the amount of joy she brings us and people keep telling us it only gets better so we're gearing up for one heck of a lot of happy times in the coming months.

In OTHER news - we are very seriously shopping for a bigger boat.  Yep.  You read that correctly, we are upgrading.  I'll go into more details about why and what we're looking for in another post - but the boat we're very strongly considering is an Amel Maramu 46.  In short, these boats are purpose-built,  bonafide world-cruisers that are incredibly well thought-out and would provide Scott, Isla and I with the space and safety we are looking for.  Scott and my dad flew down to St. Maarten this weekend to take a look at one and went out for a great sail with the lovely owners (who, ironically, have an 8 month old!).  We have not made any decisions yet and there is still a lot to consider - but there should be some moving and shaking going on around here in the next couple of months.  I'll be sure to keep you posted!

While I have broken my "radio silence" - I still most likely won't be posting every single day for a while, so if you are jones'n for your Windtraveler fix, be sure to like our Facebook page where I am posting updates and pictures daily!

Love,
Brittany, Scott and Baby Isla

Happy Birthday to Brittany!!

Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife!!

I know all of you have been patiently waiting for Brittany's blog posts as she's been a busy mother so I thought I'd chime in to wish the love of my life a very Happy Birthday.  Many of you write to us and tell Brittany how you feel like she's a friend of yours even though you've never met her and and tell her what a wonderful person she is so you can imagine how lucky I feel to be the one that gets to live with that amazing person every day.

Brittany, I didn't think you could make me any happier and then you brought Isla into the world and now I'm just so excited to be starting our little family.  I am a lucky man.

Happy Birthday sweet angel! I love you!

Love,

Scott
