2013 In Review: A Video Recap

2013 was quite a year for us.  I'm not one to say anything is "the best ever" because, to me, the best is always yet to come.  But suffice it to say, the big "one-three" left quite a mark on our lives.  We left Ft. Lauderdale in our newly outfitted boat, took our time sailing the Exumas, celebrated Isla's first birthday on the beach in Georgetown, did our longest non-stop offshore passage to the British Virgin Islands, met some of the best friends we could ever ask for, narrowly dodged our first tropical storm, island hopped down to Grenada, discovered we were pregnant with not one but two more little fishes, island hopped back up to St. Maarten and moved back to land to take a hiatus from cruising as we adjust to our impending status as a family of five.  It's been a year full of adventure, fun and love and we're looking forward to the blessings and new adventures that 2014 will bring.

I made the above video compilation of shots from this last year.  Making it brought tears of joy to my eyes as I relived moments from this past year like they happened yesterday.  Time really does fly.  What shocked me the most is the incredible difference between Isla in the beginning and at the end.  I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed living it!

Thank you, as always, for being a part of our "family" and following along on our journey.  You make it that much sweeter.  Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you so much for sharing your remarkable life with all of us. I started following you shortly after Isla was 1 and walking so it's lovely to be able to look back and see her blossom under the beautiful sun and to travel with you to the islands. I loved seeing the love blossoming between the two babies and seeing the island girls dancing. Can't wait for the next chapter in your sweet lives. Blessings for all of you as you await the arrival of the twins and can't wait to hear what their names are. I still remember you asking our input. I picked Portia for all the ports you travel to and Starr as you travel under the stars shining brightly to lead the way. Whatever you choose will have awesome meanings for you as Isla does. And thanks for saying her name. I was purnouncing it wrong. I was saying Is la. Not Ila. Love Ila. For Isla as in Island girl. Blessings dear sweet Britt. From Colleen Charlton

I don't think I've ever posted on a blog but your video has me smiling from ear to ear! Checking your blog has become an exciting part of my AM routine - I do feel a little weird about "virtually eavesdropping on your life" but let it be known that I find so much joy following along with your lives. I'm land locked in snowy Colorado but share a similar sense of adventure . So excited about your upcoming addition(s) in 2014! Love the blog - love your spirit(s)! - Amanda/Boulder, Co

So Daphne (my almost 2 year old daughter) just can't stop watching this video! I found your blog a couple of months ago while I was looking for information on sailing with a baby on board. I showed this video to my wife and child and told Daphne: "Look Isla on a Boat" So ever since she just goes "Isla Boat! Isla Boat!" whenever she wants to watch your video, which is a couple of times a week. During the video she points out everything from "Isla" to "Mamma" to "tsiou tjsiou"(bird) to "Pappa" and so on. It's fun to watch the feel good video. Great choice on the music too! Daphne looks a bit like Isla and I can't wait to take her sailing. We planned our first full week end of August in Ionian (Greece) and your videos and other postings on how to prepare and deal with a kid on a yacht are a great help! So thank you very much for that. Daphne sends kisses to Isla.
