Peace

The past two nights have found us completely alone in our anchorages.  Just us and our boat, surrounded by the sea and stars.  It's been lovely.  Scott and I were star-gazing in the cockpit, reveling in how wonderful it was to be completely on our own, when it suddenly dawned on me how rare this has been for us.  Solitude.  It's a beautiful thing, and (in our opinion) a nice perk of this lifestyle.  Having no one around us for miles meant that we were free shower naked off the back of our boat...it meant a night devoid of radio chatter and the sounds of dinghies zipping by... a night without the pull of the internet to take us away from enjoying each other and the beauty around us...a night where we could be content to sit lazily in the cockpit for hours and enjoy our own conversation and company.  Peace and quiet.  Time to reflect on thoughts, make plans, and dream of the future.  Don't get me wrong, we love being in the company of others as well, but this was a nice little change of pace for us.

That's such a weird concept indeed. Hard to believe that it's hard to get away in the Bahamas. When we were there in 2001-2002 we only managed to get out a few emails to family and that was it for a couple of months. And then no communication at all for the 2 months we were in Cuba. How weird to think of the islands as wired now with only a few placed disconnected. Glad you found some peace.

Enjoy the moments in time that we find ourselves alone to reflect on where we have been and to anticipate where we are going, it is great to get away from the crowds now and then. Keep the blogs coming and I’m sure we will catch up someday.
Cheers,
