Bahamas Bound...Revisited!

Claude came by and dropped off the wire we needed, sweet ride!
If all goes as plannee, you should be reading this while we are somewhere in the Gulf Stream on the way to the Bahamas.

Yesterday was a great first day at anchor, spent mostly tinkering away on the boat and finishing a few projects to ready ourselves for the crossing.  One glitch we had to fix was the fact that, according to our battery monitor, our engine wasn't charging our batteries.  After a little diagnostic testing we figured out it was not a problem with our alternator (phew), but with the wiring of the monitor.  After a short phone call and a little re-wiring we were golden.  While Scott was working on that, he also discovered our ignition wire had melted slightly.  No bueno.  Another phone call and some troubleshooting determined that it is not an urgent issue (it never got hot at startup nor was it warm after running for a few minutes) but it must be addressed when we get to the Bahamas.  "Do we have the right wire for the job?" I asked Scott.  Turns out, we didn't.  After a quick post on our Facebook page calling any and all Miami friends, our buddy Claude came through and dropped off fifty feet of ten gauge wire about an hour later.  How is that for awesome?  We seriously have the best followers.  Huge thank you to Claude for coming through for us in a pinch.  Asante sana.

As if that wasn't enough good fortune, our good friends Travis and Emily came by for one last farewell dinner.  We had a few laughs, drank a couple beers and had a great meal prepared for us by Emily.  We even performed a little de-naming ceremony followed by a re-naming ceremony, offering libations to Poseidon and his wind Gods so that they may be kind to us on our journey.  Better late than never, right?  We didn't have champagne but we did have a handle of Captain Morgan spiced rum which we figured the Gods would be plenty pleased with.  Only sips, of course, we didn't want to get them drunk and veer us off in the wrong direction.

It was a great last night stateside, but now we are Bahamas bound.  To see our progress check us out here... Catch you all on the flip side!

Yes, apparently we are official sailboat groupies! Can't think of a more rockin' anchorage when we all get together in the Bahamas! Dates & places anyone? Travis.
